Bolling Family China

HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT, an article written by Tom Johnson for the Flow Blue International Collectors’ Club, shares the story of the Bolling “AMOY” China. Tom knows the story well - his maternal grandmother served as Mrs. Wilson's nurse and companion from 1955 until her death in 1961. The story begins with how the Bolling Family was impoverished after the Civil War. Grandmother Bolling knitted socks for sale to buy the Flow Blue China for her Bolling family. In time, Edith inherited the family china and it made its way from her Bolling Home in Wytheville to the Woodrow Wilson House Museum in Washington, DC, where the entire set of china can be viewed. Special pieces are now on loan and exhibited at the Edith Bolling Wilson Birthplace Museum.
