Boy Scout Programs at the Edith Bolling Wilson Birthplace Museum
Emerging Leaders in our Youth

The Edith Bolling Wilson Birthplace Museum is the birthplace and childhood home of First Lady Edith Bolling Wilson, second wife of President Woodrow Wilson. Opened in 2008, the museum tells the story of Mrs. Wilson’s journey From Wytheville to The White House by celebrating her life and legacy. Located on Main Street in Wytheville, Virginia, the museum details the fascinating story of Edith Bolling Wilson to thousands of visitors a year and offers interactive educational opportunities for students.

The museum currently offers several programs available to groups. Boy Scout Programs aim to instill in each boy empowerment for academic, career, and social success. Through the example of President Woodrow Wilson and First Lady Edith Bolling Wilson,  it is our goal to build better self-esteem in young boys, so they will grow up to become more confident young men. What greater role model for our young people today than that of a President and First Lady. We want boys to understand and appreciate the importance of leadership roles in our society and the importance of both compassion and empathy for all people.

Each trip to the museum typically includes a guided tour of the Edith Bolling Wilson birthplace home, an educational program, and a presentation from the museum’s living history program - portrayals of “Young Edith” or “First Lady Mrs. Wilson.”
